Air and texture
What do the tags that make light itself visible actually add?
The earlier comparisons were about what the light falls on. These tags promise to make the air the light passes through visible — beams only show when there is dust or haze to catch them — but none of the four cuts below draws such a medium.
They leave the figure almost untouched, which makes them easy to layer with other axes. In this comparison, though, they did not change the atmosphere much either.
Every cut below shares one seed, one base prompt and one sampler setting, and differs only by the tag marked in amber.
What each cut shows
god rays- No shafts of light appear; instead a garden with trees and flowers shows through the window.
volumetric lighting- No light in the air and no haze: a clear, bright room with her shadow sharply cast on the wall.
bokeh- Only the view through the window blurs into round discs; the wall and picture frame right behind her stay sharp.
dreamy lighting- Nothing softens or pales; the lines are as crisp as in the other cuts, and the visible change is an untied bob.
How these were made
Shared prompt

Negative prompt
school uniform, pleated skirt, blazer, serafuku, child, loli, teenage, bad quality, worst quality, worst detail, sketch, censor, jpeg artifacts, watermark, signature, text, extra limbs, bad hands, bad anatomy
Model
rinFlanimeIllustrious_v30 · euler_ancestral/normal · steps 28 · CFG 5 · 896×1152 · seed 777002
Takeaway
None of the four disturb the figure, so they combine freely with angle and framing tags.
How far this result reaches
Stacking god_rays with volumetric_lighting can wash the frame out. Start with one.
Measured on a single Stable Diffusion family checkpoint. The same tags can behave differently on NovelAI, Midjourney or another checkpoint. This is a reference point, not a verdict.
