butterfly sitting
Butterfly sitting
What this cut shows
Cross-legged with the soles together — clearly distinct from the other three.
A closer look
The 'butterfly' in the tag was also taken literally: an orange butterfly has settled on each thigh. Seated on the floor with the knees dropped to the sides, the legs reach nearly to both edges of the frame, the widest spread of the four, and the feet are drawn in to the centre. The hands, though, cover the spot where the feet meet, so whether the soles are pressed together cannot be seen. It is also the only cut where the shoes turned brown.
