Age tags specify the apparent age range of a subject: child, teen, young_adult, middle_aged, elderly, or specific numeric ranges like 20s or 40s. Separating age into its own category matters because some models conflate age with body type, hairstyle, or outfit when age is not explicit. Using an age tag explicitly reduces those conflations. On most SDXL fine-tunes, young_adult is the default if no age tag is present. Omitting age entirely produces varied results depending on the other tags — for example, elegant_dress often pulls toward young_adult while business_suit pulls slightly older. If you want a specific look, state it. Note that many community models apply stricter content safety around minor-age tags; prompts involving child or teen are filtered more aggressively and may be rejected outright in commercial APIs.

Usage Tips
State age explicitly when you want a specific demographic. Combine age with body_type for the cleanest demographic control — stating age alone often still leaves body proportions up to the model. Numeric age tags (20s, 40s) are less widely supported than named tags (young_adult, middle_aged); when in doubt, prefer named tags.
